With over thirty years' experience producing and distributing public service information, in audio, for vision-impaired (blind and partially-sighted) people, we are now supporting others to do the same.

We certainly don't claim to have all the answers, but we have been doing this kind of work for quite a while. So, we are here to help any vision-impairment charity in Britain to spread and share information that can help to improve the lives of those who live with sight loss. In particular, we are keen to help smaller charities to get some form of audio service off the ground.

And we are also happy to advise any business or organisation that would like to make their information accessible to blind and partially-sighted people through the use of audio - again, maybe for the first time.

Infosound comprises a small team of volunteers, lead by a former BBC Radio Producer, Presenter and Engineer; and all our services are offered free of charge.

For example, we can offer training, advice and support in the following areas:

•  Presentation and interviewing

•  Journalism and editorial management

•  Audio editing and production

•  Audio equipment and computer software

•  Audio transcription and audio description

•  Content hosting and distribution

Infosound is a British charity, registered in England and Wales (no. 1142082) and in Scotland (no. SC039929).

We are funded solely by voluntary donations and grants.

So, if you feel you could make better use of the accessible medium of sound to inform blind and partially-sighted people and you would like to know more about how we might be able to help, please email us at [email protected].

We broadcast an occasional podcast that mentions our current work and highlights other services in the UK providing information, in audio, for vision-impaired people. You can also follow us on Twitter at @Infosound.
